    1. Welcome
    • Self-introductions by all present.
    1. Maritime Update (Andre Coleman)
    • With the addition of Joe Monroe, Charles Labitan, and Demetri Amaro to the maritime division, we are now fully staffed.
    • Three marina assistants have been added to the maritime South Beach Harbor team, and a recruitment for the harbormaster position is underway.
    • Cargo is down for the past fiscal year (July 2021 – June 2022) possibly due to supply chain constraints that were experienced in the industry.
    • The forecast for this fiscal year, as it relates to auto volumes, should be trending upwards to approximately 50k units.
    • In September, there will be a concert at Pier 80 which will provide job opportunities to the local community and generate significant revenue to the maritime portfolio.
    • As for aggregate operations, there was a slight decline due to construction slowdown in the city, but for the most part, it’s been steady.
    •  We are currently conducting an economic impact analysis report for our concrete clusters in the SW.  As we work to renew leases for our tenants, we want to make sure the community understands the importance of the concrete batch plants in the southern waterfront as 95% of the city’s construction materials are sourced from there.
    • After an eighteenth month pause due to the pandemic, cruise operations resumed in October 2021.
    • The Carnival Miracle was added as homeport vessel this year.
    • Effective January 1, 2023, the California Air Resources Board will require 100% plug in for cruise ships while at berth.
    • CARB allows for an exemption of 19 calls annually for our non-electrified facilities.  As we are capped at Pier 35, we will be activating Piers 30/32 to accommodate more cruise business.
    • We are collaborating with key stakeholders to identify and electrify a secondary cruise berth.
    • The Shipyard Program is still in place, with interim tenants such as harbor service tenants, Royal Motors who recently renewed their lease for vehicle storage, and Silverado who will improve select parcels at the shipyard.  Their goal is to build a business model to be used for retrieval and disposal of derelict vessels.
    • Dominic is working with the Office of Contract Administration to auction off the assets left at the shipyard.
    • The Sea-Change, the first hydrogen ferry is scheduled to arrive soon.  The Port executed a berth agreement for it to be docked at the shipyard.
    • Salmon season is underway.
    • The pilot program for retail crab sales was huge success. We will return to the Port commission to make the program permanent.  We may also propose to expand the program further to include other species of fish.
    • The slow oil seep responsibility has been transferred to Pilot Thomas, the fuel dock operator.  While the fuel dock is offline, fuel is being delivered to by truck.
    • We continue to seek grant funding for harbor improvements.
    • We will identify underutilized facilities for advancing water transportation and promote excursions and water transit by wayfinding signs and/or digital applications.
    • Bay Area Council’s ferryboat, The Klamath will arrive at Pier 9 in late August.
    • We have been engaging with Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and other interested parties for offshore wind projects.
    1. San Francisco Fleet Week and Fleet Fest (Lewis Loeven, Executive Director)
    • The Fleet Week Association is a non-profit organization.
    • Fleet Week holds public events, and they have a center for humanitarian assistance for disaster response.
    • They also provide training and education program that brings together civilian and military forces to develop and share best practices.
    • The attendance for 2021 Fleet Week was record breaking.  Fisherman’s wharf saw a 61% increase in business.
    • You can find more information on Fleet Week 2022 here: https://fleetweeksf.org

    1. Old and New Business; General Discussion; Agenda Topics for Future Meetings
    • Water Emergency Transit Authority was awarded a 14.9 million grant to fund the construction of ferries and shoreside charging.  This is to support the San Francisco Clean Ferry Network which will use zero-emission ferries to connect waterfront San Francisco neighborhoods including Downtown, Treasure Island and Mission Bay.
