Bayfront Park is over five acres of open space on the eastern edge of Mission Bay. The park includes native plants and bio-retention gardens that manage stormwater runoff. The park is elevated to provide a robust buffer to from sea level rise and coastal surge. The land used to be an under-utilized former maritime industrial area. Its maritime and industrial history reflect in the park's materials, such as fragments of an historic seawall as seating.
