Seawall Lot 337 Planning Process
Public Workshop - April 18, 2007

The Port of San Francisco is undertaking a public planning process for Seawall Lot 337, the 14-acre site south of China Basin Channel that is currently used for Giants and commuter parking. The Port is conducting a series of public meetings to define the future development of the site.

On April 18, 2007, the Port held a public workshop to present for public discussion several conceptual land use and development scenarios, which were evaluated in detail by interested public stakeholders. The development scenarios were produced based on staff analyses and public comments to illustrate different mixes and densities of land use development of SWL 337, and their revenue-generating capacity. The workshop enabled the public to visualize how SWL 337 could be broken down into smaller, buildable blocks with different uses, and expanded public open space options within the China Basin area. Extensive public comments and group discussion facilitated an exchange of the pros and cons of each scenario. These comments provided direction to help the Port produce parameters and criteria to define how development (including open space and public amenities) can occur in a manner that complements Mission Bay development, responds to Port financial needs to manage San Francisco's waterfront, and is supported by the public.

The development scenarios and public comments received for each are provided below.

The next SWL 337 public meeting will be a public workshop on public trust use opportunities and constraints, which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 30th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. A separate meeting notice and agenda will be sent later.

Another SWL 337 public meeting regarding draft development criteria and refined development scenarios is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. A separate meeting notice and agenda will be sent later.
