Thursday, March 23. Fly to San Francisco and stay overnight on half board at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf (4Q).
San Francisco covers a hilly peninsula on the west coast of America, almost exactly half way up California.
Some say it is the most beautiful city in America, others the most liberal. Either way it is certainly one of the most interesting.
Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown – wherever you go, you are sure to discover some of San
Francisco’s flair and charm. The steep hills are climbed by the famous cable-cars, so climb aboard for excellent views
of the downtown area and out across the bay.
The streets of this well-loved city have been immortalised by countless Hollywood movies and television series. Situated on
a hilly peninsula and covering only 46 square miles, the city is surrounded by water on three sides; the Pacific Ocean, the
Golden Gate Strait and San Francisco Bay.
There is much to admire in this unique city, such as its exuberant architectural mix of pastel-coloured Victorian houses, stately mansions and modern high rise buildings. For more than a century, the port has attracted generations of immigrants from countries around the world, including China, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Ireland and France. This unusually large number of residents with ties to other cultures, gives the city its distinctive cuisine, commerce and charisma.
Friday, March 24. Embark Saga Ruby and depart at 2300. At sea. Saturday, March 25.
